This 460,000 square foot maximum security facility houses 1230 male and female inmates. The complex is designed using a load bearing masonry structure with poured in place mezzanine slabs and a structural steel roof. This design modification allowed for a compressed construction timeline and on-budget construction costs.
One of the first “superjails” built for the Province of Ontario, it was designed as a state-of-the-art institutional facility with six interconnected octagonal pods offering improved surveillance and containment capabilities.
